To understand the impact that Emergency Department (ED) case managers have in the admission decision, Change Healthcare conducted a survey of our InterQual® customers.
The results show that hospitals with an ED case management program can document the value that case managers provide in reducing unnecessary admissions and ensuring appropriate level of care. However, the survey revealed that many hospitals do not deploy case managers in their EDs.
